Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Do Now Warmups, from getting started to managing your classes.

Getting Started

What is Do Now Warmups?
Do Now Warmups is a classroom engagement platform for middle and high school teachers. It helps you assign structured warm-ups, writing prompts, and exit tickets to your classes, collect student responses, and track participation — all in one place.
How do I create an account?
Accounts are currently invitation-only. Request an invitation from our pricing page and we will send you access instructions by email once your school is onboarded.
Do students need to create their own accounts?
Yes, students create their own accounts using the class join code their teacher provides. They sign up with an email and password.
What devices does Do Now Warmups work on?
Do Now Warmups works in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge — on desktops, laptops, tablets, and phones. No app download is required.

Teachers & Students

How many classes and students can I manage?
It depends on your plan. The Home plan supports 1 class and up to 5 students. The Elementary School plan supports up to 3 classes with up to 30 students each. The Secondary School plan supports up to 6 classes with up to 40 students each.
How do students join a class?
After a teacher creates a class, they share a join code with students. Students enter the code during sign-up or from their dashboard to be enrolled automatically.
Can a student be in more than one class?
Yes. A student can be enrolled in multiple classes as long as all classes belong to the same school.
Can I see which students have not submitted yet?
Yes. The assignment detail view shows each student's submission status — submitted, in progress, or not started — so you can follow up accordingly.
Can I leave feedback on individual student responses?
Yes. Teachers can open any submission and leave written feedback that the student can see from their dashboard.

Billing & Plans

How much does Do Now Warmups cost?
We are finalizing pricing. During the early-access period, invited schools can use the platform at no charge. Pricing details will be announced before billing begins and all users will be notified in advance.
Is there a free trial?
The current invitation-only period is effectively a free trial. All features are available while pricing is being finalized.
What is the difference between the school plans?
The Home Plan is for individual educators or homeschool families. Elementary and Secondary School plans are for campuses and include an admin dashboard, multi-teacher support, and school-wide student management.

Privacy & Security

Is Do Now Warmups COPPA and FERPA compliant?
Yes. We are designed with student privacy as a core requirement. Student data is isolated per school, teachers can only see their own students, and we never sell or share student data with third parties.
Where is student data stored?
All data is stored in a database on servers in the United States. We do not store data in other regions unless a school explicitly requires it.
Can a teacher see students from another school?
No. School isolation is enforced at the database level. Teachers can only access classes, students, and submissions within their own school.

Assignments & Prompts

What types of prompts are available?
The platform supports three prompt types: Do Nows (quick openers), Warmups (brief reflection or review), and Exit Tickets (end-of-class checks for understanding). All three support written responses and can include links or embedded media.
Can teachers create their own prompts?
Yes. Teachers can write custom prompts from their dashboard. Custom prompts are private to your school and can be reused across multiple classes and assignments.
Can I schedule an assignment in advance?
Yes. When creating an assignment you can set an "available from" date and a due date. The assignment becomes visible to students at the scheduled time and closes automatically when the due date passes.
